CFP: Artificial Intelligence and Humanistic Studies: Exploring the Complex Nexuses

CALL FOR PAPERS

The rapid development and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are transforming various aspects of research and scholarship, including the humanities. This conference aims to explore the implications of AI and ICT for the humanities, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities that these technologies present for humanistic inquiry. It seeks to interrogate and inspire discourses on the complexities inherent in the relationship between AI, ICTs, and the humanities. We invite papers on a wide range of topics related to the conference theme, including but not limited to:

• The impact of AI and ICT on traditional humanities disciplines, such as literature, linguistics, theatre, history, and philosophy

• The role of AI and ICT in shaping new forms of humanistic inquiry, such as digital humanities, computational social science, and humanities computing

• The ethics and politics of AI and ICT in the humanities, including issues of bias, surveillance, and cultural heritage

• The potential of AI and ICT to enhance teaching and learning in the humanities

• The challenges and opportunities of integrating AI and ICT into humanities research and scholarship

• The impact of AI and ICT on literature and language teaching, learning, and assessment, including language processing, natural language generation, and machine translation.

• The role of AI and ICT in literary studies, including digital editions, digital scholarship, and digital pedagogy.

• The impact of AI and ICT on language and culture, including language preservation, language documentation, and cultural representation in digital media.

• The effective integration of AI and ICT in humanities teaching, including online learning, flipped classrooms, and digital literacy.

Submission Guidelines:

• Abstracts should be 250-300 words and include a clear title, author name(s), and institutional affiliation(s).

• Presentations should be 15 minutes long; and can be in-person or virtual and should include a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation.

• Complete papers should be 5000 to 7000 words

• Abstracts and complete papers should be sent to info@cellacameroon.org.

• Abstract submission deadline: 1st September 2025

• Acceptance Notifications: 15th September 2025

• Submission of First Draft: 30th October 2025

• Conference dates: 7th & 8th November 2025
